Warrant issued for accused DUI driver involved in accident

NEWKIRK — A failure to appear warrant is issued for Lorie Ann Powell, 50, Ponca City, by the Kay County District Court.

Powell is facing a felony charge of DUI of drugs and alcohol filed on Nov. 5. Ponca City police report that officers responded to a report of a hit and run on Oct. 29 near the intersection of 14th street and Bradley. (see story)

On Feb. 26, the court ruled she was non-compliant with a court ordered program and bonds were revoked. Powell then failed to appear for a court date on June 8 and the warrants were ordered to remain outstanding. Bond is endorsed at $50,000.

Anyone with information on Powell’s location is urged to call police.
