July 26, 2019 | Courts|FeaturedNEWKIRK — An initial appearance is set for Alex Laranze Callegan, 21, Ponca City, in Kay County District Court on Aug. 2.
Callegan was arrested by Ponca City police officer Kevin Hamby on July 19 at 304 west Hartford on complaints of domestic assault and battery by strangulation and domestic assault and battery against a pregnant woman.
Hamby reports in the affidavit that he responded to a report of a domestic in the 1600 block of N. First Street.
The alleged victim told police she is pregnant and that the couple got into a fight after she found him watching porn. He reportedly hit her in the cheek and left.
She told police he later returned, crawling through a window to gain entry. The female told police she tried to stop him from entering but he entered the residence, shoved her, and began choking her. The female was able to escape, leave and call police.
Hamby reports he made contact with Callegan who claims the female punched him in the mouth. Hamby reports he didn’t see any injuries on Callegan and took pictures of him. Judge David Bandy set bond at $15,000 with the condition that he have no contact with the female if released.
As of July 25, Callegan was still in the county jail.
