Man convicted of murder for hire scheme now wanted in Kay County

NEWKIRK — A warrant with bond endorsed at $250,000 remains issued for Stephen Alan Bowen, 66, by the Kay County District Court.

Bowen is charged with a felony count of lewd acts to a child under 16 after a felony conviction. Ponca City police report in the affidavit Bowen is accused of touching a 12-year-old inappropriately.

In 2010 Bowen was convicted in Tulsa County of soliciting for first degree murder. The Tulsa World reported on March 31, 2010, that Bowen pleaded guilty to the charge and was convicted of soliciting an undercover officer to shoot his then wife, Sharon Bowen, in the chest in exchange for “$15,000 and/or a pickup truck.” (See full story)
He was sentenced to 20 years in the Department of Corrections.
According to the DOC website, he was released from prison on May 10, 2017.
PCPD reports in the affidavit that Bowen could be living in Spiro.
