Mayor Homer Nicholson called it a special day as he presented Austin with a Rec Plex Pass.
“You can play golf now instead of going to commission meetings,” joked Nicholson. Nicholson also presented Austin an appreciation medallion.
“It gives me great pleasure to present this to you and thanks for your work, time and effort in representing the City of Ponca City and the Ponca City city commission. On behalf of my fellow commissioners and myself, we thank you and appreciate it very much.”
Austin thanked many for their support. “This has been a fast six years and good experience,” he said. “It has been a learning experience. Made me value where I live and why I live here.”

Administrative Judge William Kirkpatrick administered the oath of office to returning commissioner Paul Taylor and newly elected commissioner Robert Bodick, who defeated Terron Liles earlier this month to replace Austin.
