Kay County reports 73rd COVID-19 death

OKLAHOMA CITY — The Oklahoma State Department of Health most current COVID-19 total case count is 419,354 across the state.

The state’s death toll is 4,181 an increase of 26. That number includes the 73rd reported death in Kay County, a Ponca City resident.

Kay County is tied for 11th in the state in the number of deaths reported with 73 which includes 41 Ponca City residents, two of those on the Osage County side.

Blackwell, reports 17 deaths, 14 Tonkawa residents, three Newkirk residents and one Kaw City resident. No city is listed for one of the deaths. Three of the Tonkawa deaths are contributed to Willow Haven Nursing Home. Ponca City is ranked 14th in the state among cities in the number of deaths reported with 41.

Osage County is tied for 23rd in the state with 44 reported deaths, including three Ponca City residents, a male in the 65 or older age category and a female in the 65 or older category.

Noble County has 10 reported deaths which includes, five deaths in Perry, including two males in the 65 or older age category; a female in the 65 or older age category; a Billings resident a female resident of Morrison a female in the 65 or older age category, two Red Rock women both in the 65 or older age category and a Marland man in the 65 or older age category.

Grant County has seven reported deaths which includes a female resident of Deer Creek in the 65 or older age category, three Wakita residents including two females in the 65 or older category, a Medford woman in the 65 or older age category and a Lamont resident.

Kay County ranks 18th in the state in the number of cases reports with 5,048. Included in the count are: 640 cases in Blackwell, 34, active; Braman, 22 reported cases, one active. Kaw City, 62 reported cases, two active. Newkirk, 425 reported cases, 20 active. Ponca City, 3,690 reported cases, 107 are active. Tonkawa, 351 cases, six active.

Some of the Ponca City cases have been reported on the Osage County side and other cases have been reported in rural Kay County.

As of Feb. 18 OSDH reports that there have been 201 cases reported at Kay County Nursing homes since the beginning of the pandemic, 177 of those are considered recovered and 18 have ended in death.

Sixty-seven of the cases have been reported at Ponca Nursing, 60 recovered and five deaths. Two cases at Shawn Manor, both recovered; 75 cases at Via Christi Village, 70 recovered, three deaths. Creekside Village reports 13 cases, all recovered. Six at Hillcrest Manor in Blackwell, two recovered and four deaths, and 31 at Willow Haven Nursing Home in Tonkawa, 23 recovered and six deaths.

On Dec. 31, Via Christi Village’s email update showed six deaths have been recorded at the facility.

Osage County ranks 23rd in the state for the number of cases report with 4,419. That number includes 43 reported cases in Burbank, three active. Fairfax has reported 171 cases, eight active, and Shidler, 58, one active.

Fairfax Manor Nursing Home reports 12 cases, all recovered. Fairfax reported its first COVID-19 death on Dec. 11, a female in the 50-64 age group.

Noble County’s case count is 1,335 which includes 202 cases in Billings with four active.

The latest report from OSDH released on Feb. 18 shows that 130 of the cases have been reported at the Billings Fairchild Center, 128 of those are considered recovered. Marland has 52 reported cases, one active; Morrison, 174 cases, four active; Perry, 672 reported cases, 47 active; Red Rock’s case count is 170, 13 active.

There are 531 reported cases in Grant County which includes 38 total cases in Deer Creek, one active. Lamont, 70 reported cases, two active. Medford 166 reported cases, all recovered. Nash 62 reported cases, two active. Pond Creek has 138 cases reported, four active and 47 reported cases in Wakita, three active. Deer Creek and Lamont have one reported death and Wakita has three.

In Cowley County 3,764 cases have been reported and 59 deaths.
