Kay County COVID-19 death toll rises to 51

OKLAHOMA CITY —  The Oklahoma State Department of Health most current COVID-19 total case count is 360,360 across the state.

The state’s death toll is 3,085, an increase of 48. 

That number includes three deaths in Kay County, one female in the 65 or older age group, two males in the 65 or older age group and a death in Osage County, one female in the 65 or older age group.

Two of the Kay County deaths were Blackwell residents and the third, a Tonkawa resident.

  • One in Beckham County, one female in the 65 or older age group.
  • One in Carter County, one female in the 50-64 age group.
  • One in Cherokee County, one male in the 65 or older age group.
  • One in Choctaw County, one male in the 65 or older age group.
  • Two in Cleveland County, two males in the 65 or older age group.
  • One in Coal County, one male in the 65 or older age group.
  • Three in Comanche County, one female in the 65 or older age group, two males in the 65 or older age group.
  • One in Cotton County, one male in the 65 or older age group.
  • One in Custer County, one male in the 65 or older age group.
  • One in Delaware County, one female in the 65 or older age group.
  • Two in Garfield County, one male in the 50-64 age group, one male in the 65 or older age group.
  • One in Grady County, one female in the 65 or older age group.
  • Two in Le Flore County, one female in the 50-64 age group, one female in the 65 or older age group.
  • One in McClain County, one female in the 65 or older age group.
  • Two in McIntosh County, one female in the 50-64 age group, one female in the 65 or older age group.
  • Two in Muskogee County, two males in the 65 or older age group.
  • Five in Oklahoma County, one female in the 50-64 age group, one female in the 65 or older age group, three males in the 65 or older age group.
  • One in Okmulgee County, one male in the 65 or older age group.
  • One in Payne County, one male in the 65 or older age group.
  • One in Pittsburg County, one female in the 65 or older age group.
  • One in Pontotoc County, one female in the 65 or older age group.
  • One in Pottawatomie County, one male in the 65 or older age group.
  • One in Rogers County, one male in the 36-49 age group.
  • Two in Stephens County, one female in the 65 or older age group, one male in the 65 or older age group.
  • One in Tillman County, one male in the 65 or older age group.
  • Seven in Tulsa County, four females in the 65 or older age group, three males in the 65 or older age group.

Kay County is ranked 12 in the state in the number of deaths reported with 51 which includes 30 Ponca City residents, two of those on the Osage County side; Ten Blackwell residents, nine Tonkawa residents, two Newkirk residents and one Kaw City resident. No city was listed for the 17th death. Three of the Tonkawa deaths are contributed to Willow Haven Nursing Home. Ponca City is now ranked 17th in the state among cities in the number of deaths reported with 30.

Noble County has eight reported deaths which includes, four deaths in Perry, including two males in the 65 or older age category; a female in the 65 or older age category; a Billings resident a female resident of Morrison a female in the 65 or older age category, and two Red Rock women both in the 65 or older age category. 

Osage County is ranked 20th in the state with 35 reported deaths, including two Ponca City residents, a male in the 65 or older age category and a female in the 65 or older category.

Grant County has five reported deaths, a female resident of Deer Creek in the 65 or older age category and two Wakita residents including a female in the 65 or older category, a Medford woman in the 65 or older age category and a Lamont resident.

Kay County ranks 19th in the state in the number of cases reports with 4,338. Included in the count are: 534 cases, in Blackwell, 61, are active; Braman, 18 reported cases, two active. Kaw City, 56 reported cases, seven active. Newkirk, 361 reported cases, 41 active. Ponca City, 3,195 reported cases, 341 are active. Tonkawa, 294 cases, 31 active.

Some of the Ponca City cases have been reported on the Osage County side and other cases have been reported in rural Kay County. 

As of Jan. 15 OSDH reports that there have been 181 cases reported at Kay County Nursing homes since the beginning of the pandemic, 150 of those are considered recovered and 13 have ended in death.  Sixty-five of the cases have been reported at Ponca Nursing, 50 recovered and four deaths. Two cases at Shawn Manor, both recovered; 70 cases at Via Christi Village, 61 recovered, three deaths. Two cases at Creekside Village, both recovered. Six at Hillcrest Manor in Blackwell, three recovered and three deaths, and 28 at Willow Haven Nursing Home in Tonkawa, 23 recovered and four deaths. On Dec. 31, Via Christi Village’s update showed six deaths have been recorded at the facility.

Osage County ranks 25th in the state for the number of cases report with 3,774. That number includes 34 reported cases in Burbank, two active. Fairfax has reported 154 cases, 17 active, and Shidler, 54, four active.

Fairfax Manor Nursing Home reports 12 cases, all recovered.  Fairfax reported its first COVID-19 death on Dec. 11, a female in the 50-64 age group.

Noble County’s case count is 1,175 which includes 195 cases in Billings with 10 active. The latest report from OSDH released on Jan. 14 shows that 130 of the cases have been reported at the Billings Fairchild Center, 128 of those are considered recovered. Marland has 48 reported cases, nine active; Morrison, 148 cases, 12 active; Perry, 551 reported cases, 66 active; Red Rock’s case count is 154, 24 active. 

There are 459 reported cases in Grant County which includes 27 total cases in Deer Creek, two active. Lamont, 55 reported cases, three active. Medford 145 reported cases, 13 active. Nash 48 reported cases, two active. Pond Creek has 129 cases reported, nine active and 40 cases in Wakita, three active. Deer Creek and Lamont have one reported death and Wakita has two.

In Cowley County 3,153 cases have been reported and 57 deaths.
