NEWKIRK — A preliminary hearing is set for Lloyd Howard Delano, 47, in Kay County District Court.
Delano was charged on Nov. 17 with felony counts of rape by instrumentation and lewd molestation after felony convictions of first degree rape.
Ponca City police report that Delano is accused of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old.
The teen told police about a note that was found that Delano allegedly wrote with three statements on it, one of which reportedly read, “I want to rape her.” The other statements also reportedly made references to him wanting to have sex with her.
Police arrested Delano on Nov. 12. He reportedly waved his rights and spoke to officers. Police report he denies sexually touching the teen but reportedly admitted to writing the note while high on meth.
In 1992, two rape charges were filed against Delano. In 1998 he was convicted and sentenced to 10 years in prison with all but two years suspended. Delano is being held in the county jail on $250,000 bond.
