Public hearing set for Tuesday

PONCA CITY  — A public hearing is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Commission Chambers, 516 east Grand to discuss a Community Development Block Grant Cares Act.

At tonight’s city commission meeting, city manager Craig Stephenson explained that the grant application is for rent, mortgage, utility assistance and for the local food bank, (NERA.)

The city plans to submit the application for a $612,000 grant.

Stephenson said it could be March or April before the city hears back on the topic.

During Tuesday’s public hearing, the purpose of the program and how the project will meet low and moderate income national objectives will be discussed as well as community development housing needs, public service needs and the development of proposed activities.
