Former security guard enters no contests pleas to soliciting sexual conduct and threats of violence

NEWKIRK — Perry James Buntt, 22, Ponca City, appeared in Kay County District Court today and entered a no contest plea to a felony count of soliciting sexual conduct with a minor by technology.

Three felony charges of lewd and or indecent proposals or acts to a child under 16, and a charge of violation of the state statute via computer were dismissed.

The offenses were filed on March 28, 2019 after police investigated a report of a security guard sending photos of his penis to teens.

He was sentenced to a 10 year suspended prison sentence and complete sex registration and a mental health assessment. He was also ordered to have no contact with the victim.

In a second case, Buntt was charged with three misdemeanor counts of threaten to perform act of violence. In that case he is accused of making statements while working at Walmart about shooting the place up. In that case he also entered a no contest plea and sentencing was deferred for one year.
