SLAPOUT — The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reports that a Tonkawa resident suffered injuries in a one-vehicle accident that occurred on Jan. 7 on U.S. 270 at County Road NS168(N1680), six miles east of Slapout in Beaver County.

Troopers report that Jessica Roberts, 18, Tonkawa, was driving a 2007 Mazada RX8 when she departed the roadway to the right, struck a mound of dirt, went airborne, struck a second mound of dirt, flipped end over end before coming to a rest on the driver’s side door.

Roberts was pinned for 30 minutes before being freed by the Laverne Fire Department.

She was transported via ambulance to Newman Memorial Hospital in Shattuck before being airlifted to Northwest Texas Healthcare in Amarillo where she was admitted in stable condition with trunk internal, head, arm and leg injuries.

Troopers cite failure to maintain a lane as the cause of the accident.
