Hearing set for subject accused of kidnapping and assault

NEWKIRK — A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Charles Justin Enox, 48, Ponca City, in Kay County District Court.

Enox was charged with a felony count of assault with a dangerous weapon on Nov. 10.

Enox was arrested in the 600 block of N. J Street in Newkirk on Nov. 20.

Police report that Enox is accused of threatening subjects with a shovel resulting in one subject firing a warning shot.

Police report that officers responded to a report of a fight in progress. Upon arrival, Enox reportedly fled the scene into a wooded area. Police later located Enox in what is described as thick foliage. Police report searching Enox and finding him in possession of a 24 oz Bud Light. An ambulance responded but Enox refused treatment. 

In a second case filed on Feb. 25, Enox is charged with kidnapping. In that case, police report Enox is accused of assaulting a female and holding her captive in a bedroom. After an altercation, he reportedly calmed down and offered the alleged victim a pop and was apologetic. Police report the female had bruising on both arms and on the inside and outside around the elbow. On Nov. 3, the court set bond for Enox at $100,000.
