Court date set in child neglect case

NEWKIRK — A status docket is set for Desiree Opal-Lynn Ehler, 25, Ponca City, in Kay County District Court.

Ehler was charged on Sept. 17 with a felony count of child neglect.

Officials report in the affidavit that Ehler is accused of ingesting marijuana while pregnant with twins.

A Department of Human Services worker reports that the babies were born premature and were underweight resulting in being transported to OU Medical Center.

An official with DHS reports that one of the babies tested positive for cannabinoids and that Ehler reportedly admitted to ingesting marijuana while pregnant with out having a medical marijuana card.

Ponca City police were contacted. Ehler is free on bond.
