Warrant issued in attempted burglary case

NEWKIRK — A warrant is issued for Aaron Ashton Keith Holt, 25, Ponca City, by the Kay County District Court. 

Holt is charged with attempted burglary in the third degree.

The charge was filed on Nov. 5 after Ponca City police reported officers responded to the 2700 block of Rice Street for a report of subject attempting to break in to a vehicle owned by an Osage County deputy.

Police report a security camera showed the subject lift the handle on the door of the vehicle and then leaving.

The incident occurred on Sept. 14. Security photos of the incident were placed on Facebook and a citizen identified the subject in the photos as Holt.

Holt’s criminal record in Kay County includes domestic assault and battery by strangulation filed in 2014; three second degree burglary  charges filed in 2016 and a meth charge filed in 2016.

On Sept. 19, 2016, Holt entered no contest pleas to the charges and was sentenced to prison time and is currently on probation. Holt is also wanted in Osage County on a traffic charge.
