Kay County active COVID-19 count drops to 92; More cases reported at area nursing homes

OKLAHOMA CITY —  The Oklahoma State Department of Health reports 105,308 COVID-19 cases across the state.

The state’s death toll is now 1,154.

The death toll includes 15 deaths in Kay County, 12 in Ponca City, one in Newkirk, one in Kaw City and one in Blackwell. 

Noble County has reported three deaths, a Perry man in the 65 or older age category; a Billings resident and a Red Rock resident identified as female in the 65 or older age category. 

Osage County has 13 reported deaths and Grant County has one reported death, a female resident of Deer Creek in the 65 or older age category.

The Kay County case total is now 782 which includes 63 cases in Blackwell, 12 active; 19 cases in Kaw City; 63 cases in Newkirk, 13 active; 612 cases in Ponca City, 62 active, and 43 cases in Tonkawa, five active.

Some of the Ponca City cases have been reported on the Osage County side and other cases have been reported in rural Kay County. 

There have been 25 cases reported at Kay County Nursing homes since the beginning of the pandemic, 19 of those are considered recovered.

As of Oct. 15, nine cases have been reported at Ponca Nursing, all recovered. One case at Shawn Manor, recovered.  Five cases at Via Christi Village, two recovered. One case at Creekside Village, recovered. One at Hillcrest Manor in Blackwell, listed as recovered and eight at Willow Haven Nursing Home in Tonkawa, five  recovered.

Osage County ranks 19th in the number of cases reported with 1,285. Burbank has had seven reported cases, one active. Fairfax has reported 33 cases, three active, and Shidler, six, one active.

Noble County’s case count is 169 which includes: Billings, 13 reported cases, two active; Marland, four cases. Morrison, 22 cases; Perry, 68 reported cases, five active; Red Rock’s case count is 47, three active. 

There have been 74 reported cases in Grant County which includes two cases in Deer Creek. Eight reported case in Nash, two active; Pond Creek now has 24 cases reported, nine active; Medford has had 23 cases reported, four active, Lamont, 10 reported cases, and four cases in Wakita.

In Cowley County 464 cases have been reported and nine deaths.
