Ponca City records 12th COVID-19 death; Active count climbs to 152

OKLAHOMA CITY —  The Oklahoma State Department of Health reports 93,346 COVID-19 cases across the state, an increase of 1,364 from Monday.

The state’s death toll is now 1,066 as 11 new deaths are reported including the 15th death in Kay County, a Ponca City female in the 50-64 age group.

Ponca City now ranks 16th in the state in the number of deaths reported with 12. Oklahoma City is first with 166, followed by Tulsa with 121, Claremore, 48, Norman, 40, Bartlesville, 38, Broken Arrow, 34, Edmond, 23, and Enid and Broken Bow both have reported 22.

The death toll includes 14 deaths in Kay County, 12 in Ponca City, one in Newkirk, one in Kaw City and one in Blackwell. 

Noble County has reported three deaths, a Perry man in the 65 or older age category; a Billings resident and a Red Rock resident identified as female in the 65 or older age category. 

Osage County has 13 reported deaths and Grant County has one reported death, a female resident of Deer Creek in the 65 or older age category.

The Kay County case total is now 686 which includes 52 cases in Blackwell, seven active; 19 cases in Kaw City, six active; 53 cases in Newkirk, 15 active; 565 cases in Ponca City, 117 active, and 37 cases in Tonkawa, seven active.

Some of the Ponca City cases have been reported on the Osage County side and other cases have been reported in rural Kay County. 

There have been 19 cases reported at Kay County Nursing homes since the beginning of the pandemic, 15 of those are considered recovered. As of Oct. 5, nine cases have been reported at Ponca Nursing, all recovered. One case at Shawn Manor, now listed as recovered.  Two cases at Via Christi Village, one listed as recovered.  One case at Creekside Village, now listed as recovered. One at Hillcrest Manor in Blackwell, listed as recovered and four at Willow Haven Nursing Home in Tonkawa, two listed as recovered.

Kay County is 32nd in the state in the number of cases reported. 

Osage County is 18th as their case count is now 1,168. Burbank has had seven reported cases, one active. Fairfax has reported 31 cases, one active, and Shidler, six, one active.

Noble County’s case count is 162 which includes: Billings, 11 reported cases. Marland, four cases. Perry, 65 reported cases, five active; Red Rock’s case count is 45, five are active. 

OSDH reports 55 cases in Grant County which includes two cases in Deer Creek, one active. Six reported case in Nash. 13 cases in Pond Creek, four active; Medford has had 19 cases reported, six active, 10 reported cases in Lamont, three active and four cases in Wakita, one active.

In Cowley County 420 cases have been reported and eight deaths, three of the deaths were reported last Friday.
