GRAPEVINE, TEXAS – Hundreds came out to climb aboard the Grapevine Vintage Railroad on Sept. 13 to celebrate the Centennial of the 19th Amendment to learn about the great strides and achievements of the women’s suffrage movement in Texas and across the country.

Several of the passengers included members from the Daughters of the American Revolution, Girls Scouts of America, Dallas Women’s Vintage Society, many who were dressed in 1920s attire.  Many passengers made their own outfits, sashes, poster boards and signs.

Prior to boarding the Grapevine Vintage Railroad, passengers and community members witnessed women speeches that celebrated the long journey it took for women to be granted the right to vote. Historic women like Susan B. Anthony and others were quoted as they fought so bravely for this fundamental right.
