Ponca City suffers 10th COVID-19 death; 95 active cases currently in Kay CountySeptember 11, 2020 | Headlines
OKLAHOMA CITY — The Oklahoma State Department of Health reports 67,642 COVID-19 cases across the state, an increase of 942 from Thursday.
The state’s death toll is now 888 as 12 new deaths are reported in the state including the 13th death in Kay County. A Ponca City male resident in the age group of 50-64.
Yesterday Osage County reports its 13th death, a female in the 65 or older age group.
The Kay County case total is now 401as new cases are reported across the county. The total case count includes 41 cases in Blackwell, seven active; 12 cases in Kaw City, one active; 17 cases in Newkirk; four active; 313 cases in Ponca City, 79 active, and 20 cases in Tonkawa, four active.
There have been seven cases reported at Kay County Nursing homes since the beginning of the pandemic including five at Ponca Nursing and one Hillcrest Manor in Blackwell.
In Noble County there has been one case reported at Billings Fairchild Center in Billings.
Today Sheriff Steve Kelley confirmed that some inmates in the Kay County Detention Center are quarantined. He said he was not aware of any who have tested positive.
The latest contact tracing sheet posted by Ponca City public Schools shows seven cases in the district. The cases are at Ponca City High School, Liberty Elementary, Lincoln Elementary, and Washington, Pre-K.
The latest numbers from Northern Oklahoma College shows a total of 56 positive cases across all three campuses, 23 of those are active cases.
Some of the Ponca City cases have been reported on the Osage County side and other cases have been reported in rural Kay County.
The death toll includes 13 deaths in Kay County, 10 in Ponca City, one in Newkirk, one in Kaw City and one in Blackwell. Noble County has reported two deaths, a Billings resident and a Red Rock resident identified as a female in the 65 or older age category. Osage County has 13 reported deaths.
Kay County is 32nd in the state in the number of cases reported. Osage County ranks 18th in the state in the number of cases reported with 724. Burbank has had seven reported cases, one active. Fairfax has reported 27 cases and Shidler, three, one active.
Noble County’s case count is 126. Billings has seven reported cases. Marland, four cases, one active. Perry, 52 reported cases, 12 active; Red Rock’s case count is 36, four are active.
OSDH reports 32 cases in Grant County which includes three reported case in Nash, two active; seven cases in Pond Creek, one active; 11 cases in Medford, one active; seven reported cases in Lamont and three cases in Wakita.
In Cowley County 283 cases have been reported and three deaths.
