PCPS adopts safety protocolsJuly 31, 2020 | Headlines
PONCA CITY — The Ponca City Public School Board of Education has adopted School Safety Protocols for Instruction, Health Protocols including Face Coverings, and Activities.
Protocols are correlated with the Oklahoma COVID-19 Alert System, which provides new data regarding the county risk level of a 7-day rolling average of new cases of COVID-19. With weekly cases on the rise, this protocol was approved based on the current situation and is subject to change at any time.
A major component of the Health Protocol portion is the use of face coverings. Face coverings are required for all students PreK-12, staff, and visitors.
Frequent breaks from face coverings will be taken when distancing is possible at all grade levels. Teachers will coordinate mask breaks throughout the day as long as social distancing requirements can be observed.
If students/parents would like to change from Learning Option 1 to Learning Options 2 or 3, or from Learning Options 2 or 3 back to Learning Option 1 because of the change, make up enrollment will be held from 8 a.m.. until 3 p.m. on Aug. 6 and 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Aug. 10 at the Registration Center located at 111 W. Grand Avenue. New students to the district must register in person. A list of required documents can be found on the district website, https://www.pcps.us under Registration Information.
Returning PCPS students may register online using the PowerSchool Parent Portal. Proof of residency is required for all elementary students and can be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org. Updated immunization records can also be emailed to the Registration Center.
Ponca City Public Schools is offering online learning options for the 2020-2021 school year. To enroll in Option 2 or Option 3 learning options, please complete the PCVA Option 2 & 3 Application located under the Parent & Students tab on the district website.
Those who select an online option through PCPS, it is an easy transition back to traditional school if the risk of COVID-19 reduces. Questions concerning the online learning options may be emailed to Barbara Cusick, Executive Director of Curriculum, at email@example.com.
