PAWHUSKA — Jason L. Herman, 45, Wichita, Kan. and former Newkirk resident, Shandi Elizabeth DeBoard, 35,( who now goes by Shandi Elizabeth Reeves-Bailey), recently appeared in Osage County District Court and entered a guilty pleas to a manslaughter charge in the death of 22-year-old Tonkawa resident, Christopher Wade Urban.
Urban was found dead on Feb. 26, 2016 at a location on Quail Ridge Lane, located in the McCord area, outside Ponca City. The pair were reportedly spotted leaving the residence where Urban was found. Officials believe the pair brought a large quantity of meth to the residence. Authorities say an autopsy revealed that Urban died of methamphetamine toxicity.
The pair were facing first degree murder charges but reached a plea deal.
Herman was sentenced to 20 years in prison with all but the first five years suspended. He is currently incarcerated at the Osage County Jail. DeBoard was sentenced to 30 years in prison, all suspended and is on DOC probation. She was ordered to report to a probation officer. The pair must pay $11,339.75 jointly in restitution.
