Kay County COVID-19 case count climbs to 97

OKLAHOMA CITY — The Oklahoma State Department of Health reports 13,757 confirmed cases of COVID-19 across Oklahoma since the beginning of the pandemic, an increase of 585 from Monday. 

The Kay County case total is 97 as the Ponca City case count climbs to 93 since the beginning of the pandemic.  Tonkawa has had four cases; Blackwell and Newkirk three cases, and Kaw City, one case.  

Seven of the Ponca City cases have been in the Osage County area which is why the Kay County total is not 104. Kay County ranks 22nd in the state in the number of cases reported.

OSDH reports 68 of those infected in Kay County have recovered, 22 of the cases are current. There are 11 ventilators available in Kay County.

On Monday Ponca City Schools announced they have been made aware of a possible case therefore placing summer activities on hold. (see story)

Noble County’s case count is 39. Red Rock’s case count is 21 with four active cases. Perry has reported 11 cases, five of those are active. Morrison three cases reported, one is active, and Marland one case reported.

The Osage County Count is 165 and Grant County remains at two cases.

The death toll across the state is now 387 which includes seven Kay County deaths. Five in Ponca City and one each in Newkirk and Kaw City. Eight people in Osage County have died.  

Cowley County case count has jumped from 66 to 70. 

Cowley County public health officials believe some who tested positive for the virus did not quarantine.
