Ponca City resident injured in single-vehicle accident

PAWNEE — The Oklahoma Highway Patrol is reporting that a Ponca City resident was injured today at 9:06 a.m. in a one-vehicle accident on Oklahoma 18, south of East 390 Road, eight miles north of Pawnee in Pawnee County.

Troopers report the 34-year-old subject was driving a 2003 GMC Envoy southbound on Oklahoma 18 when the vehicle departed the roadway to the left, traveled down the east ditch, rolling two full times before coming to a rest on its wheels.

The driver, who has not been identified pending next of kin, was ejected.

Troopers report the driver was airlifted from the scene to St. John’s in Tulsa and admitted in serious condition with head, arm, internal and external injuries.

Troopers report the driver was impaired by illegal drugs and was not using a seatbelt. The accident is being investigated by Trooper Romulus Gregory No. 430 of the Osage/Pawnee County detachment of Troop K. Assisted by Pawnee Ambulance, Pawnee County Sheriff’s Office, and AirEvac.
