Ponca City man faces firearm charges after incident at Alliance Health
May 21, 2020 | CourtsOn May 13 at 2:31 a.m. Ponca City police and Kay County deputies responded to Alliance Health for a report of a 56-year-male patient pointing a handgun at medical staff.
A nurse reportedly told police that the male subject was on the second floor Med Surge Unit walking the halls with a walker.
Multiple patients were in reportedly in their rooms and many nurses were locked in a bathroom. According to law enforcement records, Robert William Ables, 56, Ponca City, was arrested and booked in the county jail and held on a $100,000 bond. On May 14, Judge David Wilkie granted Ables a medical bond and he was released.
Today Ables was charged in Kay County District Court with three felony counts of feloniously pointing a firearm and scheduled for a status docket on Aug. 21.
