OSDH reports two new cases of COVID-19 at Ponca Nursing this week

OKLAHOMA CITY — The Oklahoma State Department of Health Executive Report released at 5 p.m. today shows three total cases of COVID-19 have been reported at Ponca City Nursing and Rehabilitation since the pandemic began.

The first case was reported in March. (see story)

The total case count increased to two cases on the May 20 Executive Report and today’s report shows three total cases. (see report)

On Monday the facility issued a press release reporting a confirmed case. (see story)

On Wednesday, other media outlets reported the case was false positive.

Today, Kathy Casper, administrator at Ponca Nursing, said that the facility stands by the press release issued on Monday. She added that there is no confirmed cases in the facility and that no other details are available. (see the full statement here)

The OSDH report also shows that there are 11 ventilators available in Kay County and 2,980 surgical masks; 5,994 N95 masks; 6,704 gowns and 32 COVID-19 collection kits.

Today the total number of cases reported in Ponca City increased to 50. (see story)
