NEWKIRK — A preliminary hearing is set for Colton Randy Kevin Bay, 26, Newkirk, in Kay County District Court on June 9.

Bay was charged on July 2, 2019 with a felony count of second degree robbery and a misdemeanor charge of malicious injury to property under $1,000.

The charges were filed about a month after a domestic abuse case filed against Bay on Dec. 18, 2018 was dismissed. (see story)

On March 30, 2019, Blackwell police officer Alex Myatt reports in the affidavit that he responded to a disturbance at Jefferson Apartments. Upon arrival a resident reportedly told the officer that Bay kicked the door in, grabbed a phone and threw it on the floor, breaking the screen.

The resident of the apartment advised he wanted to press charges as did the owner of the phone and the manager of the apartment complex. Bay was booked in the county jail on the charges on July 16 and later released on $5,000 bond.
