KSO received four reports of unemployment fraud
The following information is provided by the Kay County Sheriff’s Department.
At 10:10 a.m. KSO received a report of a single vehicle accident near Leaming Construction. OHP troopers were advised. The driver reportedly blacked out and drove through a fence.
At 12:41 p.m. KSO took a larceny report at Ponca’s Finest Storage. The lock on a gate was reportedly cut and a travel trailer and boat were missing.
At 8:25 p.m. KSO received a report of a client of Supportive Community Lifestyles walking on Coleman Road. The subject was reportedly combative and had reportedly broken the windows on an employee’s vehicle. Deputies responded and one subject was arrested.
At 1:22 p.m. a female subject contacted KSO and reported she was following fugitive Troy Alan Willbanks, 62, Blackwell. A warrant for Willbanks was issued with bond endorsed at $30,000. He is charged with a felony count of lewd or indecent acts to a child. The caller told KSO that she was following him in the area of 20th and Blackwell and that family had been hiding him. Deputies responded as the subject was reported heading west on Ferguson going over the I-35 overpass. At 1:37 p.m. the subject was reported to be traveling west on Oklahoma 11. The Grant County Sheriff’s office was notified. A Kay County deputy caught up with the vehicles in Deer Creek. The vehicle stopped and with permission from Grant County a KSO deputy made contact. An OHP trooper was dispatched. At 1:58 p.m. the trooper arrived, arrested and transported Willbanks to the Kay County jail. He was later released on $30,000 bond and scheduled for an initial appearance on July 10.
At 11:10 p.m. a deputy arrested Christopher Michael Abbott during a traffic stop near Goldenrod and Rosedale.
At 12:40 p.m. KSO received a report of an abandoned vehicle on 29th Street between Canteen and Dry Road. Deputies responded and reported it was a white Ford Focus and that the steering column had been punched out. Blackwell wrecker responded and towed the vehicle.
At 2:44 p.m. a resident contacted KSO and reported her information was used to filed an unemployment claim and that the address comes back to the 1200 block of west Grand in Ponca City. PCPD was notified. (see related story)
At 7:14 a.m. KSO took a vandalism report in the area of 29th Street near the Diversion Dam.
At 10:57 a.m. a resident contacted KSO and reported someone had filed for unemployment under her name. A deputy took a report. At 1:40 p.m. a second resident reported the same thing.A deputy made contact.
At 2:57 p.m. a third citizen called and reported unemployment fraud. A deputy made contact. (see related story)
