Ponca City police officer Kisen Sharp reports in the affidavit that at 8:43 a.m. he was patrolling westbound in the 1500 block of west Highland when he saw a black Ford Explorer that had been reported stolen. Sharp attempted to stop the vehicle but the driver accelerated and a pursuit ensued with speeds reaching 70 miles per hour.
Sharp reports the vehicle was swerving and changing lanes repeatedly until it turned southbound at the intersection of Elm and Highland, then westbound on Hazel and Elm.The shift supervisor terminated the pursuit at the intersection of Hazel and Osage.
At that time Ponca City Animal Control Officer Steve Minor contacted police and reported a roll over accident near 413 N. Lake. Minor detained a subject who was attempting to flee southbound. Sharp and other officers arrived and identified Anderson as the subject trying to flee. The driver, Byrd, was trapped in the vehicle. Byrd is free on $2,500 bond.
