KSO logs March 25-April 1April 4, 2020 | Police
The following information is provided by the Kay County Sheriff’s Department.
At 12:22 a.m. a deputy assisted PCPD with retrieving a stolen watch in the 11000 block of S. U Street.
At 4:07 p.m. deputies took a report on a dog that bit a subject in the 8500 block of N. Highway 77.
At 12:21 a.m. deputies responded to a report of a hit and run by First Council Casino. (see story)
At 4:40 p.m. PCPD advised KSO of a shooting that occurred at the salvage yard across from the water treatment plant on east Central in Ponca City. The caller told police he was trying to sell items at the salvage yard to a subject when a dispute erupted over the cost and another subject reportedly pulled a gun and shot at the caller’s vehicle. Deputies and troopers responded. A bullet was recovered from the vehicle. Wayne Keith Cotton, 56, Newkirk, was arrested and booked in the county jail on charges of assault and battery with a deadly weapon and felon in possession of a firearm. Bond is set at $200,000.
At 11:59 p.m. Newkirk police advised of a farm truck that lost a bale of hay on Highway 77 in front of the casinos. Oklahoma Department of Transportation was notified.
At 6:43 p.m. Newkirk Fire responded to a report of a fire Longwood and Judo. Other fires were then reported in the area. (see story)
At 11:09 a.m. KSO received a report of a scam call from 580-992-0490. The caller was posing as collections from OG&E. The information was logged.
At 5:16 p.m. a resident reported her vehicle was stolen by a teenage relative. A deputy located the vehicle and a pursuit ensued northbound on Ranch Drive. The teen was arrested and later released. A report was made as the vehicle owner wanted to press charges.
At 11:45 a.m. deputies responded to a one-vehicle rollover near the Uncas Y and Highway 11. No injuries were reported and OHP responded.
At 8:01 p.m. KSO received a report of several Mustangs speeding around the Pioneer Cove Boat Ramp as if it were a track. Extra patrol was requested.
