Wichita man injured in crash on Interstate 35

TONKAWA — The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reports one person was injured today in a two-vehicle accident on Interstate 35 today at 5:16 a.m.

Troopers report Jeffrey Pappan, II, 26, Wichita, Kansas, was driving a 2014 Nissan Sentra northbound in the southbound land near mile marker 211 near Tonkawa and struck a 2019 Freightliner driven by Phillip Peterson, 45, Wichita, Kan.

Pappan was transported to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kan. by Blackwell EMS and admitted in good condition with head, trunk, internal. external and arm injuries. Peterson was not injured.

Troopers report Pappan was driving under the influence of alcohol and cite DUI as the cause of the collision.

The incident was investigated by Trooper Chris Vaughan #832 of the Kay County detachment of Troop K. Assisted by Trooper Adam Beck 700 of Troop K , Tonkawa Police Department , Fort Oakland Police Department, Blackwell EMS.
