Blackwell man sentenced on rape charge

NEWKIRK — Jaycob Glenn Prince, 20, Blackwell, entered a no contest plea in Kay County District Court to a felony count of second degree rape and was sentenced to 15 years in prison with all but five years suspended.

A misdemeanor charge of possession of meth was dismissed.

Prince was arrested by Ponca City police on Dec. 19 after a 15-year-old girl told authorities that she had been having consensual sex with him. (see story)

Upon release Prince will have to register as a sex offender and he is ordered to have no contact with the victim. The court also granted a motion to revoke a seven year suspended sentence issued to Prince after he was convicted of a felony charge of unlawful possession of meth with intent to distribute.  Prince was also sentenced to one-year in the county jail after motions to revoke were granted in two misdemeanor cases.
