NEWKIRK — A warrant with bond endorsed at $25,000 is issued for Michael Dean Adkins, 54, Ponca City.
On Dec. 18, 2018, Adkins was charged with two felony charges of elder abuse. (see story)
After failing to appear for a court date related to that case, he was arrested at a hotel by a bondsman on June 26, 2019. (see story) He would later be released on bond.
On Aug. 16 the Kay County Sheriff’s Department responded to a report of Adkins tearing up a residence. (see KSO log entry)
On Oct. 8, Ponca City police responded to a report of Adkins destroying a residence. (see PCPD log entry)
On Nov. 7, PCPD returned to the same residence for a report of Adkins making death threats. (see PCPD log entry)
Following that call, Adkins was charged on Nov. 13 with a misdemeanor charge of threaten to perform act of violence. He was granted an own recognizance bond despite objections made by the district attorney’s office.
On Nov. 15 the court was provided proof that he was in the hospital and an initial appearance was scheduled for Dec. 13. He failed to appear for that court appearance and a warrant was issued. He was jailed on Dec. 18 but released on $3,000 bond and was scheduled to return to court on Jan. 3.
Adkins failed to appear for the court date and the warrant issued. Anyone with information on Adkins location is asked to call law enforcement.
