Judge increases bond in maiming case

NEWKIRK — A status docket is set on Jan. 17 for Mace Edwin Dickens, 28, Stillwater, who is facing a felony charge of maiming.

Ponca City police report he is accused of pouring a bottle of acid on a female. Sgt. Jason Ivers reports he responded to Bridgeway on Nov. 22 for a report of a woman assaulted with acid. (see story)

Ivers reports he made contact with the victim and that she had chemical burns on her face, neck, hands and buttocks. The victim told the officer that Dickens poured acid on her in the area of the 700 block of west Grand.

A second officer arrived and located a bottle of liquid fire drain line opener on the ground. After fleeing the area, Dickens was arrested on Nov. 28 after in an abandoned house in the 500 block of N. Osage. 

He was booked in the county jail on $50,000 bond. On Dec. 13, Judge David Wilkie increased bond to $60,000 and ordered Dickens to have no contact with the victim if he bonds out.

Attorney Jarrod Stevenson is appointed as  Dickens’ attorney.
