Race for Blackwell School Board seat develops

NEWKIRK — A race for a Blackwell School Board seat has developed following the second day of candidate filing at the election board in Newkirk.

Tami Leigh Bickford, Blackwell, filed for Blackwell School Board Ward No. 5, the seat currently held by incumbent Phil Green, who filed for the seat yesterday. 

Bickford was the only candidate to file for office today. On Monday incumbents Lanita Chapman, Ponca City Commissioner Ward No. 1; Shasta Scott, Ponca City Commissioner Ward No. 3; Gay Norris, Pioneer Technology Center District No. 13; Susan Rhea, Newkirk Public School Office No. 5; Don Nuzum, Ponca City School office No. 5,  and Michael S. Smith, Kildare School office No. 2 filed.

Other seats that candidates can file for are: Peckham School office No. 3, Tonkawa school office No. 5 and Blackwell mayor. Filing ends Wednesday at 5 p.m.
