NEWKIRK — A Ponca City police officer is on administrative leave after being arrested and charged with a misdemeanor charge of domestic abuse assault and battery against a pregnant woman in Kay County District Court.
Ryan Matthew Parton, 24, Ponca City, was booked in the county jail last week and later released on $1,500 bond.
Parton was charged after his pregnant girlfriend told police that on Sept. 14, he pushed her, causing her to land on a pile of moving boxes and a couch. The female claims she received bruises and a scratch from the incident.
She told police he has a drinking problem and that she is afraid of him becoming violent.
