NEWKIRK — Seth David Melton, 19, Ponca City, is scheduled to appear in Kay County District Court this week on a felony charge of terroristic threats and a misdemeanor charge of reckless conduct with a firearm.
Ponca City police officer Brandon Hurst reports in the affidavit that he responded to Pioneer Tech on Nov. 6 in reference to a threatening message.
There, two students reportedly told the officer that during a conversation, Melton reportedly stated he was going to shoot up a school or the school.
The pair said Melton had been speaking about wars and shootings when he made the comment. A teacher was contacted and the police were called.
According to the Kay County Detention Center booking report, Melton was booked in the county jail on Nov. 13 after being arrested by Bartlesville police on Nov. 8.
He is being held on $102,500 bond.
