NEWKIRK — A fourth status docket is set for Donnie Joe Griffith, 32, Ponca City, in Kay County District Court on Sept. 20.
Griffith is facing a felony count of child sexual abuse filed on Nov. 8, 2018. Ponca City police report he is accused of sexually abusing a juvenile male. Det. Sgt. Brian Dye reports in the affidavit that during a police interview, Griffith reportedly stated the following.
“I don’t remember any of it. If it happened, I don’t remember any of it happening. It could of happened while I was sleep walking. I sleepwalk at night, it could of happened then, I don’t know. I don’t remember this happening. If it did happen, it had to of happened, it couldn’t of happened. It didn’t happen. He is making this up. The truth is it never happened.”– Donnie Joe Griffith
Griffith was released on $25,000 bond on Nov. 9, 2018. Since his initial court appearance on Nov. 16, 2018, he has had two attorney status reviews and one status docket. According to the district court network, Griffith applied for a court appointed counsel, but the application was denied by the court on March 8.
