NEWKIRK — The Kay County Election Board is busy preparing for tomorrow’s Tonkawa election and the upcoming proposed county sales tax election.
Tomorrow Tonkawa voters will head to the poles to vote in the Tonkawa School District I-87 Special Bond Election. To see the ballot click here.
On Oct. 8 all registered Kay County voters can vote on a proposed one-fourth of one percent county sales tax. If passed the tax would fund the construction of annex next door to the current Kay County Courthouse and remodeling to the current courthouse. (see story)
Last week county commissioners acting as the Public Building Authority, agreed to enter into a contract with Speaknow Film Company at a cost of no more than $3,000, to help get the message out as to why county officials believe they need the annex. (see story)
Those who need to apply for voter registration in order to vote in the election have until Sept. 13 to do so. Voters who want to vote absentee in the election have until 5 p.m. on Oct. 2 to apply for absentee ballots.
Voters in Kildare precincts 407 and 411 will now vote at Kildare Baptist Church, 700 Church Street, instead of Kildare School. For more information on voting call the Kay County Election Board at 580-362-2130.
