NEWKIRK — Ashley Dawn Pendergraft, 32, Newkirk, was booked in the Kay County Detention Center Saturday on a felony count of embezzlement.

In the affidavit prepared by Ponca City police, employees of Local & Home Finance told police they believe Pendergraft started embezzling from the company in March of 2018 and was terminated in July 2018.
Police report she is accused of embezzling $11,394.04.

Owner Gary McVay told police he wanted to press charges.
PCPD Lt. Kevin Jeffries reports Pendergraft reportedly admitted to her co-workers that she took the money and agreed to pay it back. However, reportedly after the agreement, she continued to take money.
Pendergraft is free on $5,000 bond.
