Red Rock resident sentenced to 20 years

NEWKIRK — Margaret Jean Burgess, 34, Red Rock, entered no contest pleas this week in three felony cases including a felony charge of harboring a fugitive from justice after two or more felony convictions.

Burgess was arrested with fugitive Enrique Alberto Zazueta, 34, on June 6 at Timbers Apartments. (See story)

Zazueta is facing a felony charge of shooting with intent to kill in the May 21 shooting Dylan Trent Washington. (See story)

In a separate case, Washington was arrested this week and is accused of stabbing a woman in the neck. (See story)

Judge David Bandy sentenced Burgess to 20 years in prison with all but nine years suspended. Zazueta’s next court date is set for Sept. 30.
