Ponca City woman faces child neglect and drug charges

NEWKIRK — An attorney status review is set for Brooklyn Dale Stewart, 28, Ponca City, in Kay County District Court on Sept. 20.

Stewart is facing a felony charge of child neglect and misdemeanor charges of unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a CDS.

Ponca City police report an officer went to Stewart’s house in reference to a Department of Human Services stand by. Stewart reportedly allowed the officer into her home.

Officer Jared Gray reports in the affidavit that he found pipes and containers used for smoking and storing meth and marijuana. The officer also reportedly located phentermine.

Stewart reportedly told the officer that she lives in the home with her three-year old and that meth pipes belong to her boyfriend. “I was gathering them up as I found them and putting them on that shelf,” she reportedly told the officer. “I was going to destroy them later.” Gray reports that she claimed the pills were given to her by a relative for her meth addiction. Stewart is free on $2,500 bond.
